ACVA Certification Requirements
Level I Certification | Level II Certification
2008 Examination Dates and Locations:
Students Need to Complete 600 Credit Hours
Options for collecting Credit Hours:
l. ACVA Online Program:
Completion of the ACVA Online Program provides 600 credits.
The Online Program consists of 10 modules, one month each.
II. Classes
Classes with approved teachers, including attendance of ACVA Symposiums, Conferences, and Workshops.
( 1 hour of class = 1 credit hour)
Unlimited hours
Send in list of classes attended with hours recorded to ACVA office
(photo copy Program Guide Class Schedule and note classes taken and mail to ACVA Office)
IlI. Correspondence Courses
Maximum of 200 hours can be accrued through Correspondence Courses. Upon receiving your certificate of completion, mail a photocopy to ACVA office
A. 200 credit hours
1. Vedic Astrology Correspondence Course by Dr. David Frawley.
2. Audio Tape Correspondence Course by Dennis Flaherty
(total course is worth 200 hours)
3. Vedic Astrology Correspondence/E-mail Course by Roeland de Looff, M.A.
(2 Courses available: each worth 100 credit hours)
B. 100 credit hours
1. Vedic Astrology Correspondence Course For Beginners with Komilla Sutton
2. Vedic Astrology Correspondence Course by R.G. Krishnan
3. Vedic Astrology Correspondence Course by Ernst Wilhelm
lV. Audio Tapes
Maximum of 200 hours on audio tapes can be accumulated.
1. Audio tapes of previous Conferences
(1 hour of tape = 1 credit hour) (Send in list of tapes with hours recorded to ACVA office)
2. Audio course "The Vedic Chart: An Expert Guide through the 12 Ascendants in 12 Lessons" by Edith Hathaway is worth 20 credit hours.
V. Tutorials
Private tutorials with approved ACVA Tutors
One hour of individual tutoring equals 10 credit hours with homework given by the tutor
Tutors will direct the students study, will verify the hours of study, and student's competency for material studied
Cost of private tutorials may vary by tutor fees - average $50 - $95 per hour
Tutorial hours may vary, depending on the competence of the student
Vl. Each student must complete either 10 Chart Analysis or Thesis for 100 credit hours
A. Analysis of Charts 100 hours
Chart examination by student along with summary of interpretation and rationale, minimum of 10 charts (different ascendants)
Charts are to be typed along with analysis, minimum of 3 pages each chart, plus chart itself
Student should show ability to understand the mechanics of the chart (knowledge of planets, signs, houses, aspects, yogas, combination, timing, etc.)
Student should show ability to examine major questions or issues in the chart (synthesis and interpretation based upon mechanics of chart)
Student should send the 10 copies of chart interpretations to their tutor as well as sending copies to the ACVA Office for their file
B. Thesis 100 hours
Thesis on any topic of Vedic astrological chart interpretation, minimum of 10,000 words or 20 pages single-spaced, should include chart illustrations (minimum of 5 charts)
Fees:
The American College of Vedic Astrology Certification Program Registration Fee is $95 which starts a file for you at the ACVA office.
Purchase Registration Fee:
To participate in this program you are encouraged to become a member of the American Council of Vedic Astrology (student or professional membership levels)
Level I Examination
Cost for Level I Examination is $195.00. This fee must be paid one full month prior to taking the examination.
All documents must be received by the ACVA office one month prior to the examination.
ACVA Examinations are given at ACVA Approved Conferences
Students must attend at least one approved Vedic Astrology conference prior to sitting for the ACVA Level I Examination
Written Exam is 3 hours, Oral Exam is 1 hour with tutors
Upon passing, student will be granted a Level I Certificate in Jyotish from The American College of Vedic Astrology
